Pittsburgh's Premier Landscape Design-Build Firm

Your yard should look as
designed as your home.

TerraGreen is the only Phipps-accredited, WBE-certified landscape design-build firm in the Pittsburgh metro. We start with a hand-drawn design — plant by plant, hardscape section by section — before you approve a single dollar.

"Every landscaper you called showed you what they already know how to build. That is not design — that is inventory."

Most South Hills landscapers are maintenance companies that took on design work. They plant what they buy at cost. They stamp concrete because they own the mold. There is a real difference between a firm that landscapes and a firm that designs landscapes. TerraGreen starts with your site: your drainage, your grade, your light, your vision. The result looks like it has always been there — because it was designed for exactly where you live.

Phipps Accredited
Sustainable Landcare Professional — the most rigorous eco-landscaping credential in Pittsburgh, backed by one of the region's most respected environmental institutions.
WBE / MWDBE Certified
Women Business Enterprise certification distinguishes TerraGreen for both values-aligned homeowners and institutional project partners.
Techo-Bloc Pro Certified
Certified installer of Techo-Bloc premium paver systems — the reason TerraGreen hardscapes survive Pittsburgh winters without heaving or cracking.

Full design-build scope, from soil to seatwall

Every engagement begins with a site assessment and hand-drawn design. We do not sub out design to a sales rep with a tablet — we produce a custom drawing of your actual property before any work is approved.

01 / Landscape
Landscape Design-Build
Full concept through installation. Rain gardens, pollinator gardens, native plantings, wildscapes, living walls, and raised planter systems — designed for your specific soil, grade, and light conditions.
Rain Gardens Native Plants Pollinator Gardens Living Walls
02 / Hardscape
Hardscape Design-Build
Patios, seatwalls, fire features, retaining walls, walkways, steps, boulderscapes, and permeable paver systems. Techo-Bloc Pro certified installation means your hardscape is built to outlast Pittsburgh's freeze-thaw cycles.
Techo-Bloc Pro Fire Features Permeable Pavers Retaining Walls
03 / Outdoor Living
Outdoor Kitchens & Living Rooms
Designed outdoor spaces configured for real entertaining — not a patio that holds six people before it feels crowded. Full outdoor kitchen integration with fire features, seatwall, and structured gathering areas.

04 / Drainage
Drainage & Environmental Solutions
Standing water on your lower lot is a design opportunity, not just a drainage problem. A properly designed bioswale or rain garden turns a problem zone into the most ecologically valuable and visually compelling part of your yard.
Bioswales Stormwater Site Grading
05 / Lighting
Landscape & Architectural Lighting
Exterior and architectural up-lighting designed to complement the landscape and extend your outdoor space into the evening hours. Integrated into the full design rather than added as an afterthought.
Exterior Lighting Architectural Up-Lighting
06 / Irrigation
Irrigation Design & Installation
System design and installation scaled to the planting plan — not a generic zone layout. Proper irrigation supports the native and sustainable species selection and reduces the water consumption of a conventional lawn-first system.

The rain garden you've been looking at on Houzz — built for your lot.

Pennsylvania native sedges, coneflowers, blue flag iris — selected not because they photograph well, but because your soil, light, and drainage grade make them the right choice. That distinction is what Phipps accreditation actually means on the ground.

You see your yard on paper before you spend a dollar

TerraGreen's four-step process is built to eliminate the gap between what you describe and what gets installed. No surprises once the crew arrives. No substitute for the design you approved.

01
Complimentary Site Visit
We walk your property and assess drainage, grade, soil, light, and what is actually happening underground before making any design suggestions. If we read your drainage problem before you explain it, that is the expertise you are hiring.
02
Hand-Drawn Design Proposal
You receive a hand-drawn site plan of your actual property — plant by plant, hardscape section by section — along with a custom plant library and a site narrative explaining every design decision. Not a tablet mockup. A real design document.
03
Design Review & Approval
You review the full plan before committing to anything. Ask questions. Request changes. Show it to your spouse. This is the step that eliminates every disappointment you have had with past contractors — because you know exactly what is going in the ground.
04
Installation by Our Crew
TerraGreen's trained installation crew builds exactly what was designed. Techo-Bloc Pro certified hardscape installation. Phipps-accredited plant selection and soil preparation. A finished yard that looks like it has always been there.

Real projects, real Pittsburgh neighborhoods

"They walked our lower lot for ten minutes and diagnosed the drainage issue four contractors before them had simply landscaped around. The rain garden they installed is now the best-looking part of our yard and we have not had standing water since."
M. Fitzgerald
Peters Township, PA
"The hand-drawn design was the turning point. I had never seen my actual yard represented in a proposal before. When I opened it I knew immediately we were working with a firm that was genuinely designing — not just quoting off a list."
L. Armbruster
Bethel Park, PA
"We asked specifically for native Pennsylvania plants and TerraGreen did not treat it as an upsell — it was the starting point. Every species was selected for our specific conditions. The Phipps accreditation is not marketing. We can see it in the plant list."
D. & C. Rhoades
Squirrel Hill, PA
